My husband and I stayed 5 days at this wonderful hotel. It’s a bit of a journey to get there from Rio but definitely worth it. We dove 4 days with the dive center Jamanta. We had a great time. We loved the dive masters. Maria, Bruno and Leandro were always very friendly, patient and made every dive special. We were particularly impressed how well everything was organized. Even the storage room was tidy and very well organized. We ate every night at the hotel’s restaurant. The Caipis were great and the food was delicious too. Most nights we had rice, small salad, beans and chicken. Everything is so well put together. The landscaping is gorgeous and every morning everything was cleaned. The room was really modern. The bed super comfortable and the windows reduced the noise from outside. The reception team was super friendly and helped us settle in by giving us a tour around the property. Breakfast was delicious and had a variety of options. We can recommend this place if you’re looking for great diving and a place off the beaten track. The only downside is that we would have loved to stay longer.

I enjoyed the location : beautiful scenery! To post a constructive review I’ll begin by expressing that I was not happy with several elements of the property. (I would like to add at this point that I jointly managed a 15 room ‘high-profile’ guest house for several years in Europe for experience in management and client care). I upgraded the room here upon arrival advertised as ‘garden-view’ (wall of plants, no garden) to sea-view (it was not inexpensive!). Online the images of the exterior are compelling and inviting. The property in reality is somewhat dated (70s), and has not been adequately renovated. The bar and restaurant area had dirty floors and was not hygienic ( pool?). Access to sea from this area was insufficient and slippery and those jumping in from the deck beware as it can be shallow and rocky. The sheets were damp and there was a smell of cooking (fats) from the unventilated & poorly adapted kitchen. Bathroom was ok. The surfaces of the room were tacky and not properly cleaned ( recommend adding wipeable surfaces or better still doing a complete renovation. At breakfast the offerings were acceptable (no eggs made to order) however there were no gloves to wear and social distancing ( tables) was not respected. On the positive side, there were bikes to rent though it may be somewhat dangerous to take these off the property with the narrow roads. We did manage to take an ocean two-seater kayak out to the very attractive scenery that includes many islets. We were doing well until we found it hard to paddle once fairly faraway from shore. The vessel was filling up with water aft. We made it to a beach to drain the boat and found the plastic hull was poorly repaired. Fortunately we managed to reach the hotel on cell phone to request pick-up. Had we not had a cell phone (not many folks around) the story could have ended differently as we were several miles out and needed to check- out. There were no apologies from the hotel ( signals crossed ?). The staff were very polite on the whole though infrastructure poorly maintained/ managed.. We hope we are able to return to Pousada Jamanta for another stay in better accommodation and with greater hygiene as we would like to come back to this area and remain longer, taking advantage of their island cruise (10-16.00)..
